Professional Interests: Raphaela provides individual and family psychotherapy for children as young as 5 years old through adults. She works with a diverse caseload of clients, supporting those struggling with acculturation, adjustment, anger issues, anxiety, attachment disorders, behavioral issues, depression, family changes/dysfunction, grief and loss, parenting issues, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), relationship concerns, school-related issues, stress, and trauma.
Approach to therapy: Raphaela has experience in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Play Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Family Therapy and Motivational Interviewing. She strongly believes that change happens in a collaborative relationship built between the client and the therapist. Raphaela works with her clients on organizational structures, experiential learning, treatment goals, and mindfulness practices as means for empowerment in the therapy sessions.
Selected Professional Experience: Raphaela has experience working with children and families during her time as a therapist in La Paz, Bolivia. Raphaela and her family moved to Ann Arbor in 2005. In 2007, she earned a Montessori Certification in Early Childhood from Adrian Dominican Montessori Teacher Education Institute (ADMTEI). She worked as a Pre-School Teacher and as a Spanish and French Teacher (K-6th).
