Professional Interests: Matt works primarily with men and non-binary people between the ages of 18 and 45. He often works with clients who are first-time therapy seekers and who may not have seen themselves represented well in mental health spaces. Matt’s areas of experience include anxiety, depression, ADHD, trauma, gender identity concerns, acculturation/enculturation/immigration concerns, grief, life transitions, men’s mental health, relationship concerns, self-compassion, sexual concerns, and suicidal thoughts.
Approach to Therapy: Matt’s practice draws primarily on emotionally-focused and narrative therapy interventions. He emphasizes non-judgmental empathy, validation and mindfulness to help reduce distress and increase self-compassion. He also values play, humor and creativity in therapy. Matt practices with an intersectional framework, recognizing that our various identities shape how we experience the world. He believes clients’ natural strengths will become apparent in therapy and will help them achieve their goals when given a non-judgmental, supportive and empowering therapeutic environment.
Selected Professional Experiences: Matt holds a Master’s degree in Social Work from the University of Michigan. He has worked as a therapist with Amplify Colectivo since 2020. Outside of work, Matt is passionate about running, video games, film, animation, music, and art.
