We are a private, group psychotherapy practice offering therapy services for children, teens, emerging adults, adults, and elders. Members of the Amplify Colectivo team have received further training and education to provide knowledgeable and affirming therapy to various communities and for a range concerns.

Fee-For-SERVICE

We understand that sometimes clients do not have insurance coverage or prefer to simply leave the insurance company out of it by paying out of pocket for services received. We accept cash, check, and credit/debit card.

SLIDING FEE SCALE

For those who have limited means to pay for services we are happy to extend a sliding fee scale. We’ll do our best to put a plan together that helps you get the support you need.

ADHD

Anxiety

According to the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI), anxiety disorders are the most common mental health concern in the United States. An estimated 40 million adults in the U.S., or 18%, have an anxiety disorder. Approximately 8% of children and teenagers experience the negative impact of an anxiety disorder at school and at home. Just like with any mental health concern, people with anxiety disorders experience symptoms differently. Therapy can be supportive in identifying causes of anxiety and learning helpful coping strategies.

College Student Mental Health

Research has shown that most mental health concerns have first onset by early adulthood, ages 18 - 24. College is an important setting in which to evaluate and address mental health concerns as is it has a profound impact on all aspects of campus life: at the individual level, the interpersonal level, and even the institutional level.

Depression

According to the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI), an estimated 16 million American adults—almost 7% of the population—had at least one major depressive episode in the past year. People of all ages and all racial, ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds experience depression. Depression looks different for everyone. One person may appear sad or hopeless and another might be persistently irritable and anxious. Therapy can be supportive in identifying causes of depression and learning helpful coping strategies.

Eating & Body Image Concerns

Eating and body image concerns affect people from all ages, backgrounds, ethnicities, gender identities and sexualities. Unfortunately, that diversity is rarely reflected in the way eating disorders are researched, discussed, and treated. Therapy can be helpful whether you have been diagnosed with an eating disorder, are in recovery (as defined by you), or have some concerns connected to your behaviors around eating and body image.

Family of Origin Concerns

Family of origin refers to the first social group you belonged to, which is usually your biological, adoptive, or foster family. Your family of origin shaped your values and beliefs, how you communicate, process emotions, and get needs met. Those who experienced family dysfunction may find therapy helpful in developing insight and begin to work through family of origin concerns.

Gender Identity & Letters of Support

We subscribe to an Informed Consent Model of Gender-Affirming Care. We provide appointments for individuals seeking support to obtain a letter for HRT and/or gender affirming surgery due to insurance requirements.

Grief & Loss

Grieving is a natural response to death and loss. It might be the loss of a loved one, relationship, pregnancy, pet, job or way of life. Other experiences of loss may be due to children leaving home, infertility and separation from friends and family. Therapy can be supportive in processing grief and loss.

Immigration Psychological Evaluations

Among the most common types of psychological evaluations for U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) are the following: Extreme Hardship Waiver, Political Asylum Waiver, Domestic/Spousal Abuse Waiver (VAWA). Going through the process of filing for US resident status or defending oneself against deportation can be a very anxiety provoking time in many individuals’ lives. However, finding a knowledgeable therapist can be a very important step in one’s immigration case. We will communicate with your attorney as needed and with your permission.

Life Decisions & Transitions

Life decisions and transitions can lead to a wide range of feelings from joy to fear. Therapy can provide support as clients navigate role transitions, career changes, relationship changes, transitions from college/graduate school, job loss, becoming a parent, and much more.

LGBTQQ+/QTPOC Concerns

The history of mental health care for LGBTQQ+/QTPOC individuals, couples, and families has been marked by significant disparities in care. We provide affirmative therapy that acknowledges the negative influence of homophobia, biphobia, transphobia, and heteronormativity. In addition, we understand that gender and sexuality are one aspect of a person's identity and therefore we take your lead on what you want to explore in therapy.

Cis & Trans men's Concerns

Cis & Trans men's concerns refers to any topics that are relevant to cisgender and transgender men. These concerns might be related to historical, social and cultural issues. For some men, it could be; the silence of sexual abuse, the expectation to "man up", and the stigma connected to accessing services for mental health issues like depression and anxiety. And, for some transgender men, it could be navigating the intersection of multiple identies, fear of laws that promote the oppression of transgender men, and the historical trauma of accessing medical and mental health care. We are also thoughtful about and don't assume that every issue is related to being transgender or nonbinary.

BIMPOC (Black, Indigenous, Multiracial, People of Color)

Mental health and racism are rarely separate. BIMPOC have been left out of most mental health research or stereotypes (model minority, strong Black woman, no soy loco) of these communities have been reported as protective factors for mental health. Oftentimes mental health treatment for BIMPOC does not incorporate the nuances of resilience and resistance.

Self-Harm

Self-harm describes any behavior where someone causes harm to themselves, usually as a way to help cope with difficult or distressing thoughts and feelings. We work with you to identify what is leading to self-harming behaviors and support you in developing coping skills.

Spirituality & Faith

Managing life's stressors is not always easy. Connecting to the soul and spirit may offer comfort despite the adversity and restore hope. Through meditation, prayer, or other forms of spiritual practice we can connect with inner selves in a deeper way and enter a place of balance, peace, and joy. These spiritual disciplines offer us a path to healing and restoration.

Substance Use

Psychological, biological, social, and physiological factors might all play a role in whether or not a person comes to abuse drugs or alcohol. According to the National Survey of Substance Abuse Treatment Services (N-SSATS), about 45% of Americans seeking substance use disorder treatment have been diagnosed as having a co-occurring mental and substance use disorder. Our therapeutic approach is client-centered and focused on the client's goals.

Teens

Adolescence is a time of opportunity and growth. Many teens need support connected to their goals, academic stress, mental health, bullying, dating, and peer pressure. Others may need help working through their feelings about family, particularly if there's a major transition, like a death, divorce, or illness. Therapy for teens can offer a confidential space to explore their goals, discuss their concerns, and develop coping strategies.

Trauma

Sometimes the impact of the trauma is not felt until weeks, months or even years after the traumatic event. Trauma impacts how we see ourselves and the world. We work from a trauma-informed perspective to develop a therapeutic relationship that cultivates safety, trust and compassion.

Cis & Trans women's Concerns

Cis & Trans women's concerns refers to any topics that are relevant to cisgender and transgender women. These concerns might be related to historical, social and cultural issues. In addition, there are issues that disproportionately affect cisgender and transgender women; the intersection of multiple identies, sexism, sexualized violence, intimate partner violence, access to affirming health care, and laws that promote the oppression of cisgender and transgender women. We are also thoughtful about and don't assume that every issue is related to being transgender or nonbinary.

This  group provides a space for individuals involved in advocacy, activism, or social justice work. The group is an opportunity for participants to offer one another support around your experiences of caring for the world and living into Audre Lorde's quote, “Caring for myself is not self-indulgence, it is self-preservation, and that is an act of political warfare.”
